Driving Directions
WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO GET TO SKY VALLEY?
(maps are at bottom of page)

If you use a GPS system it will usually find SKY WAY as our street address.

WINTER NOTE:  The Bear Notch Road is Closed in Winter so if you take Rte 93 you'd have to come all the way up to Twin Mountain. While this might be slightly longer it is still sometimes better than the other alternative, Rte 16 through North Conway.

If you are driving from the south, (Boston Area) the least congested way to get to Sky Valley is Rte 93 to Exit 32, the Kancamagus Highway (Rte112) and then the Bear Notch Road into Bartlett Village. At the stop light in Bartlett Village Turn right (east) on Rte 302, Sky Valley is about one mile from the stoplight.   OR if the "Kank" seems a bit too isolated for you It's about ten minutes longer to continue on Rte 93 to Exit 35 TWIN MOUNTAIN, then take Route 302 east to Sky Valley. In the winter months the Bear Notch Road is Closed.

______________________________________________________

Some people like to drive up Rte 95 thru PORTSMOUTH to RTE 16 and go thru North Conway.

If you go the RTE 16 way, when you get to Conway to avoid the North Conway "strip", use the back roads:  take a LEFT at the West Side Road.  At the Covered Bridge bear LEFT onto West Side Road.  In about 5 miles you will come to a stop sign at the Schatner Strawberry Farm.  Turn LEFT and proceed about four miles to another Stop Sign.  This Is RTE 302.  Turn LEFT on Rte 302 WEST and Sky Valley will be about three more miles on your right.

If you're not too sure about "back roads", Turn LEFT at the SECOND stop light in Conway Village.  Within four miles of the stop light you will be on "the strip" where you will encounter about a thousand factory outlet stores, burger kings, McDonalds, Pizza Huts, WalMart, Movie Theatres, Malls, etc, etc, etc..Keep going.  If you see the  Memorial Hospital on the right you're on the right track.  Keep going five miles to the stop light in Glen.  Here RTE 16 is to the right and RTE 302 WEST is straight ahead.  For future reference note the Dunkin Donuts on the left.  Go WEST on Rte 302 and in about 3 miles you will come to Attitash Ski Area...continue ONE MORE MILE and SKY VALLEY will be on your right.

_______________________________________________-

If you are driving from the Hartford/New York area, the way I like to go is Rte 91.  Check your map and drive north all the way to the exit for Woodsville, NH.  Then follow Rte 302 (a brief stretch on RTE 93 will by-pass Littleton) to Sky Valley.  We are about one hour from Woodsville on RTE 302 EAST.

Whichever way you choose to go it might be a smart idea to pick up a $2.00 map somewhere...then these directions and routes will appear much more obvious. OR see if your computer will print out the full size version of this map by clicking on the map for the full picture, then print. If you use a GPS system it will usually find SKY WAY as our street address.

wmap.jpg (396052 bytes)HERE IS THE WHITE MOUNTAINS AREA MAP.  PLEASE CLICK ON IT FOR A VERSION YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE. Unless you have a super-fast internet  connection it will take it 30 seconds to a minute or so to open.

kancmap.jpg (81476 bytes)This map shows the entire length of the Kancamagus Highway from Lincoln to Conway and includes the Bear Notch Road.  It shows the major points of interest along the route and a few of the popular hiking trails. Click it for a big version. IF you'd prefer to have a printed copy of this map, click here and ask me for the Kanc Map. (I'll need your US Postal address)
