|Our Frontage on the Saco River at Sky Valley
Lots of places say they have a beach, then they point you towards a long, long trail through the forest and you eventually come out at the river.
The Sky Valley beach is a mere 500 feet from most of our units. In fact, if you want to be really lazy, you can drive your car right to it.
Our Saco River beach IS NOT like
a beach at the ocean. It's more of an adventure.
It is rusticated with lots of rocks and sandy spots that move around from year to year. There are no chairs or umbrellas. Bring your own.
It's a small scramble to get to the water and is not wheel chair accessible.
There is the main branch, or for more adventurous folks, you can find the secluded north branch, sometimes called Meadow Brook, which has numerous spots like pictured above.
Some folks spend countless hours while they are here re-creating their own version of how things should look. This is one of the more creative projects.
Some Nights folks like to collect some driftwood and have a little bon-fire. As long as it's kept small we don't mind.
Our section of the Saco River is an ever changing landscape of sand, rocks and river. It is constantly changing and shifting, some years there are better beach areas than others, some years more water, some years less. Often more rocks than sand. If nothing else, it is always an adventure.
